Brother David H. Hodges

A master's job is never done, it lives on through the ages.

The annual Installation of Officers was held on January 5th and afterwards there were light refreshments served in the dining hall.

In February it was noted in the minutes that the pigeon population that had come to roost in the attic of the Lodge had been evicted and that steps were being taken to persuade them to go to another location.

In May it was announced that the Temple Association had agreed that it was time to invest in a couple of new coolers for the Lodge room. It was also noted that by looking at the front steps of the building that the pigeon problem was a long way from being over. Then it was decided that only one cooler was going to be replaced and the other completely refurbished. The President of the Temple Board also noted that several complaints had come in about the Lodge and that the people who were complaining were never seen at the work parties...it's always the same. hehehe

In June a new telephone answering machine was purchased for the Secretaries office. Watch out now we are starting to get into the electronics area. :)

In August it was moved by motion and vote to raise the amount for the officers going to Grand Lodge to a total of $300.00 for their expenses. It had previously been $150.00 per person.

In October it was announced by the Master, that he had been asked by the Grand Master of Mason's in California, to open one of the sessions of Grand Lodge at the Annual Communication. One of the pieces of legislation for this Grand Lodge was the shortening of the degree proficiencies and a show of hands were taken and it was decided that the members of Clovis Lodge were not in favor of this legislation passing. It was also decided to accept the invitation of the Clovis Chamber of Commerce and put a float in the Christmas Parade held in December.

At the annual Roll Call Dinner in December there was no mention of the departed brethren of this year. A lot of things were discussed and a lot of business took place.

On December 10th there was mention of the annual Food Project. Generous amounts of food had been collected along with a Thousand Dollars in cash. In all 11 families were to receive food, gifts and a Christmas Tree from the Lodge.

Brethren lost to death in this year were Bro's. Burke Baber, Eugene Bell, Gilbert Marvin Carder, George Ward Croyle, Edward Freel Cunliffe, Frank Ellison, Donald Paul Essman, George Monial Landers, John Schulter Stoughton, Stanley Arthur Topham and William Edward Wolfe.
